UPSC Defence Services Exam-I 2024 – Registration Open

To gain admission to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, the Naval Academy in Ezihimala, the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad, and the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (I), 2024 on April 21, 2024. 457 Vacancies Available for the UPSC CDS (I) 2024 Exam

There are 100 openings at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, for the 158th (DE) Courses starting in January 2025 (13 of which are designated for holders of the NCC “C” Certificate (Army Wing).
32 Executive (General Service)/Hydro positions are available at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Of these, 06 are for holders of NCC “C” Certificates (Naval Wing through NCC Special Entry). starting in January 2025 as a course

32 spots are available at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad for the Pre-Flying 217 F(P) Training Course, which starts in January 2025. (3 spots, including one designated for holders of NCC “C” Certificates (Air Wing) via NCC Spl. Entry)

There are 275 openings for the 121st SSC (Men) (NT) (UPSC) Course at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, which will start in April 2025.

The 35th SSC Women (NT) (UPSC) Course will begin in April 2025, and there are 18 openings at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai (women).

How Do You Apply for the UPSC CDS Exam-I in 2024?

The UPSC Combined Defence Service Exam (I) 2024 can be applied online using the format specified at https://upsconline.nic.in between December 20, 2023, and January 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. by candidates. Online applications may be withdrawn between January 10, 2024, and January 16, 2024, at 6:00 PM.

Eligibility Requirements for CDS-(I) Exam 2024

(A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status

For Indian Military Academy:

Male candidates without a spouse who were born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2006, are the only ones eligible.

For Naval Academy:

Male candidates without a spouse who were born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2006, are the only ones eligible.

For Air Force Academy:

20–24 years old, or single men only, who were born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2005, are eligible.

For  Officers’ Training Academy –

(SSC Course for Men): Eligible candidates must be male (married or single) and born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2005.

For the Officer Training Academy

The SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course is open to unmarried women, issueless widows who haven’t gotten married again, and issueless divorcees who haven’t gotten married but have their divorce papers in hand. They have to have been on January 1, 2006, at the latest, and no earlier than January 2, 2000.

(B) Educational Background

Required for admission to the Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy: a degree from an accredited university or its equivalent.

About the Naval Academy:

Engineering degree from a reputable university or institution.

For Air Force Academy:

a recognized university degree (with math and physics at the 10+2 level) or a recognized university or institution’s degree in engineering.

To apply for the examination, candidates enrolled in the final year of the degree program who have not yet passed the degree examination or an equivalent exam must provide documentation of their passing the examination before the deadline.

(C) Physical Standards

As stated in the comprehensive advertising on the UPSC website, candidates must meet the physical requirements to be admitted to the combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (I), 2024.

Application Fees

The application fee is ₹200, which must be paid by the candidates (female, SC/ST, and exempt candidates do not have to pay this price). The candidates can pay this fee in cash, via SBI’s Net Banking service, or with a Visa, Master Credit, or Debit card.
