OSSTET 2023 Notification Released: Apply Online Now

For the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) 2023, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha is accepting online applications for Paper 1 (for Trained Graduate Teachers) and Paper 2 (for Physical Education Teachers in Govt. Schools of Odisha State). All qualified applicants may submit their online applications via the BSEO website, bseodisha.ac.in, starting on December 11, 2023, and ending on December 22, 2023, for OSSTET 2023.

OSSTET Eligibility Requirements 2023

Professional and Academic Credentials

Trained Graduate Arts (Category- I)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, or Shastri (Sanskrit) with two subjects taken as Honors, Elective, Pass, Optional, or Compulsory (see the list of topics in Annexure-I) from an accredited university with a minimum of 50% overall (45% for applicants from SC, ST, PH, or SEBC). B.Ed. or a three-year combined B.Ed.-M.Ed program from an NCTE-recognized institution. Or
  • Four-year integrated B.A.B.Ed. from NCTE-recognized institution with two subjects that are Honors/Elective/Pass/Optional/Compulsory (see the list of topics at Annexure-I), with a total score of 50% (45% for candidates who are SC/ST/PH/SEBC).
    Graduate Science (PCM/CBZ) trained
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, B.Tech., B.E., or two school subjects as Honors, Elective, Pass, or Optional (see the list of school subjects in Annexure-I) from an accredited university with a minimum of 50% overall (45% for applicants who are SC, ST, PH, or SEBC). B.Ed. or a three-year combined B.Ed.-M.Ed program from an NCTE-recognized institution.
  • With two school subjects designated as Honors/Elective/Pass/Optional (see the list of school subjects in Annexure-I) and a four-year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed program from an NCTE-recognized institution, students will receive an overall score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates).

The Hindi Teacher (Category I)

  • Hindi must be taken as an Honors, Elective, Optional, or Pass subject for a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 50% (45% for candidates who identify as SC, ST, PH, or SEBC). PLUS any one of the ensuing instructional prerequisites.
  • From Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, comes Hindi Sikshyan Parangat.
  • A recognized university or institution must provide the NCTE-recommended B.H.Ed. course.
  • NCTE-recommended B.Ed. in Hindi from Dakhin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 50% overall (45% for candidates from SC, ST, PH, and SEBC) and a certificate in education from an NCTE-recognized institution ALONG WITH
  • One of the subsequent prerequisites: (Acquired by June 2005, the date up to which the provisional recognition has been granted) from Hindi Sikshya Samiti, Odisha, Cuttack; Rastrabhasa Ratna from Rastrabhasa Prachar Samiti, Wardha, Shatri (Hindi) from Orissa Rastrabhasa Parisad, Puri. AND One of the subsequent training prerequisites;
  • From Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, comes Hindi Sikshyan Parangat.
    A recognized university or institution must provide the NCTE-recommended B.H.Ed. course.
    NCTE-recommended B.Ed. in Hindi from Dakhin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras
    B.Ed. from a University or Institution Accredited by the NCTE

Classical Sanskrit Teacher (Category I)

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with Sanskrit as one of the electives, optional, honors, or pass subjects, and a minimum of 50% overall (45% for those who identify as SC, ST, PH, or SEBC). Additionally
  • The NCTE recommends taking Sikshya Shastri (Sanskrit) in a recognized university or institution or earning a B.Ed. from one of these establishments. Or
  • Shastri (Sanskrit) from an accredited university with at least 50% of the possible points (45% for SC, ST, PH, and SEBC candidates). Additionally, a B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized university or institution or the NCTE-recommended course Sikshya Shastri (Sanskrit)

Classical Teacher (Urdu) (Category I)

  • Alim with a cumulative grade of 50% (45% for candidates with PH). AND B.Ed./Urdu B.Ed. from a University or Institution Accredited by the NCTE. Or
  • AND a B.Ed. or B.Ed. in Urdu from a university or institution recognized by the NCTE, as well as a B.A. (Persian) with 50% of the total marks (45% for PH candidates).

Classical Instructor (Telgu) (Category- I)

  • A minimum of 50% overall (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC applicants) in Telgu is required for a Bachelor of Arts degree. Additionally
  • A Telgu B.Ed. from a university or other establishment NCTE has recognized.

Physical Education Teacher (Category II)

  • 12th or an exam that is comparable to an accredited school. A recognized Board or University OR C.P.Ed., D.P.Ed., B.P.Ed., or M.P.Ed.
